Introduction to the Nissan Elgrand
As a basic run down, the Nissan Elgrand is a 7/8 seat Luxury MPV that was released only to the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM). Since it's release in 1997 as a successor to the Nissan Homy, it has become a popular import in New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Russia and the UK. There has been a gap in the UK market for a big luxury people carrier, which is where the Elgrand excels. With it's highly versatile seating arrangements, it's high basic spec level, and overall luxurious feel, it's popularity has grown.
Due to the increasing interest in Japanese imports, more and more people are bringing Elgrand's into the country, including individuals using Import Agents located in Japan, and main UK JDM dealers. The E50 is the most commonly available model in the UK due to it's relatively low selling price, but the E51 is proving to be a strong competitor in the MPV market and comes in much cheaper than it's direct rivals. The E52 is still relatively expensive, especially when you add the Import Tax and VAT onto the import value.
